The LUI years (1964-1989)

Between 1964 and 1989, Lassalvy becomes one of LUI’s most recognizable gag cartoonists and profilic contributors. Founded in November 1963 by Daniel Filipacchi and Frank Ténot, and run by chief editor Jacques Lanzmann, this classy French charm magazine mixing interviews of celebrities and photographs of famous and often naked pretty women was a huge success in the 70’s & 80’s. Among the best cartoonists (Blachon, Bosc, Hoviv, Loup, Mordillo, Pat Mallet, Reiser, Siné, Trez, Wolinski ...) who gaily colored the pages of the magazine at that time, we can also note the publication of a comic strip by Lauzier : The Sextraordinaries Adventures of Zizi and Peter Panpan, as well as the famous pin-ups by Aslan. We invite you here to review some of Lassalvy’s finest Indian ink, watercolor and gouache cartoons published in LUI.
